OUR FOCUS

Inclusive and resilient urban investment

UrbanMacro focuses on emerging-market cities and underserved urban places where growth, climate risk, infrastructure pressure and economic change are reshaping future investment choices

01

Emerging Places

UrbanMacro focuses on emerging-market cities, secondary cities, informal settlements and underserved districts.

These are places where infrastructure gaps, climate exposure and uneven access to opportunity often overlap. They may be growing quickly, changing informally, or playing a larger economic role than conventional data suggests.

The aim is to make these urban places easier to understand, compare and include in the decisions that shape future investment.

01

Urban Transitions

UrbanMacro looks at how large-scale change reshapes cities and settlements.

Climate risk, forced migration, demographic change, technology shifts, supply-chain restructuring and economic transition all influence how cities grow, where pressure builds and what kinds of investment are needed.

The focus is not only on what is happening in a place today, but on how its risks, opportunities and investment needs may evolve over time.

03

Grounded Intelligence

UrbanMacro combines technology, expert insight and local evidence.

AI-enabled tools, geospatial analysis and economic modelling can help build evidence where conventional urban data is weak or missing. But models need to be tested against local conditions, practical judgement and lived experience.

The aim is to create an evidence base that is both analytically stronger and more grounded in the realities of the places being studied.

Working on an urban challenge?

UrbanMacro is interested in collaborating with cities, development institutions, foundations, universities, community organisations and partners working on inclusive and resilient urban development
